Empowering Youth on Green Transition (EYGT)

The Empowering Youth on Green Transition (EYGT) program is a new project of BYEI that recognizes the potential of young people to become catalysts for sustainable development and are dedicated to supporting their journey toward a greener and more prosperous future.

At EYGT, we are committed to driving positive change in Bangladesh by empowering climate-vulnerable marginalized youth through access to better employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the green economy transition. Our program is designed to improve the economic condition of young individuals by equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the emerging green industry.

Program Objectives

Skills Development

Through vocational and on-the-job training, we aim to bridge the skills gaps in the Solar Home Systems and Commercial Solar Systems sectors, providing 100 students with the knowledge and expertise required for successful careers in the green industry.

Entrepreneurship Training

We assist our participants in finding suitable employment opportunities or guide them in establishing their own green businesses. Our comprehensive entrepreneurship training equips them with the necessary tools to launch and manage sustainable ventures.

Green Skills Innovation Hubs

We strive to create an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship by establishing Green Skills Innovation Hubs within Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. These hubs serve as platforms for exploring various avenues of green entrepreneurship, including the recycling of solar energy system components.

Program Eligibility

Our program is specifically designed for enrolled students of the EYGT program who meet the following criteria:

  • Age range: 18-35 years
  • Educational Background: Grade 10 to Diploma Engineering
  • Target Groups: Climate-vulnerable Marginalized Unemployed Youth, Underprivileged Group, Ethnic Minority, Women, and Persons with Disabilities

Accelerating Green Innovation through Youth Entrepreneurship (AGIYE)

AGIYE is an exciting opportunity for participants to showcase their innovative green business ideas and receive catalytic funds and business development support. We support innovative business ideas that offer low-cost, community-driven, and scalable solutions for low-income populations in climate-vulnerable areas of Bangladesh.

AGIYE aspires to transform Bangladesh’s grassroots economy into a circular and zero-waste production system for meeting low-income consumers’ necessities (food, housing, sanitation, and health). In the process, build a stronger grassroots economy, climate resilience, nutritional security, and conservation of nature and biodiversity.

The Organizer

Bangladesh Youth Environmental Initiative (BYEI), a nonprofit run by youth for youth, was set up to educate, empower and inspire the Bangladeshi youth to take action for a more just, equitable, sustainable, and prosperous Bangladesh. We believe that a new generation of planetary stewards with consciousness, capacity, and motivation to act can transform the vision of a just, equitable, sustainable, and prosperous Bangladesh into a reality.
