Nurture your Nature

At “Kids for Nature,” we are leading an innovative and transformative movement in climate-sensitive education in Bangladesh. Our project, “Kids for Nature – Nurture your Nature,” is designed to empower the next generation by fostering a deep connection with the environment from an early age. This isn’t just another classroom initiative; it’s a call to action for children to become lifelong champions of our planet, armed with the knowledge, skills, and passion necessary to protect it.

We believe that building a greener future starts with nurturing a bond between children and nature today. Children are not only the future inheritors of the planet; they are also its greatest hope. By fostering a love and respect for the environment, we aim to cultivate a generation that is conscious, informed, and ready to take on the challenges posed by climate change.

Our mission is to empower children across Bangladesh with the awareness, knowledge, and leadership abilities needed to address critical environmental and socio-economic challenges. We are committed to inspiring children to take responsibility for the planet, ensuring that they grow into active stewards of climate mitigation, adaptation, and conservation.

In Bangladesh, as in many parts of the world, climate change is no longer a distant threat. It is here, and its impacts are being felt more than ever before. Children, who represent about 30% of the world’s population, are particularly vulnerable to these changes. Research shows that they are among the groups most affected by climate shocks, which makes it crucial to prepare them for a future where they can thrive despite these challenges. We are creating a unique space where children can develop the skills, mindset, and responsibility to safeguard our environment.

Our program is built around hands-on, activity-based learning, allowing children to engage directly with nature through practical experiences. From workshops and school gardens to student-led environmental projects, we’re providing opportunities for children to apply what they learn in real-world contexts.

A Guide through the Booklet

Chapters - Stories & Activities

Each chapter discusses a specific topic and is followed by activities related to the theme. Students must complete each activity directly on the booklet by themselves to get their end-reward.

Exploring through QR Codes

Some chapters have a section bearing a QR code. Students are encouraged to scan and explore more on the chapter through fun videos or reading from a website. It is suggested that the club, teacher or the authority in charge demonstrates the scanning process to the students.

Challenges & Badges

There are several challenges throughout the booklet for the students. Once they complete a challenge, they must stick a form of proof on their booklet - could be a printed picture or table with numbers or show the online version of proof to relevant authority (club or teacher) from whom they will collect the badge.

Calendar: Change Starts With Me

The calendar is the final activity for the students to practice for one month. Each day of the month, they must practice to conserve resources (e.g. water, electricity). If they manage a day doing so, they will draw the symbol on the calendar accordingly.

Our strategy is delivered in five key stages:

Advocacy

Engaging children with knowledge-sharing workshops about climate change, conservation, and sustainability.

Practical Activities

Creating hands-on experiences such as gardening, nature fairs, and ecological field trips to foster a tangible connection with the environment.

Project Design

Encouraging schools to develop their own sustainability projects, ranging from waste management systems to tree planting initiatives.

Regular Monitoring

Ongoing support through monitoring and evaluation to ensure that projects are effective and that children retain the sustainable practices they’ve learned.

Recognition

Recognizing and celebrating outstanding environmental projects with awards and showcasing successful efforts through newsletters and community events.
