What is ECP?

Earth Champions Program (ECP) is the signature youth environmental leadership program of BYEI, through which BYEI selects young minds with potential and trains them to become leaders and catalysts for social and environmental progress and sustainability.

Who is eligible?

This year BYEI is looking for students of classes 9 – 12 from 13 districts of the country: Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Barisal, Khulna, Rangpur, Bogra, Shunamganj, Shatkhira, Cox’s Bazar, Mymensingh, and Comilla.

    30 competent participants from all over the country would be taken on a 5-day long, fully funded Residential Training Camp.

    Following the training program, participants will form an Earth Club in their respective institutions.

    The participants will execute five Community Development Projects and implement their learnings.

FAQs

1. Who can apply?
This year, BYEI is selecting participants from 13 districts: Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Barisal, Khulna, Rangpur, Bogra, Shunamgonj, Shatkhira, Cox’s Bazaar, Mymensingh and Comilla. Anyone from the districts mentioned above currently enrolled in class 9-12 is eligible to apply.
2. Is the Earth Club formation compulsory?
Yes. Every participant has to form an Earth Club in their respective school/college after the successful completion of Earth Camp. If there is already an Earth Club at their respective institution, the active participation of the ECP Fellows in the same is mandatory.
3. What is the cost of the program?
The program is free. The total cost for the program is about BDT 40,000 which will be covered as a scholarship from BYEI. However, there is a registration fee of BDT 2000 (fee waiver available on fulfillment of conditions).
4. Where will the Earth Camp be held?
The 5-day long Earth Camp will be held in a rural residential setting.
5. When will the Earth Camp be held?
Prospectively, the Earth Camp will be held in the last week of December, 2014.
6. Is participation at the Earth Camp Compulsory?
Yes. Every selected participant MUST attend the Earth Camp. The applicants are requested to seek parental consent in this regard before applying.
7. How will the participants be selected?
The participants will be selected based on the written application, and an interview for shortlisted candidates. We are looking for young minds with the potential and motivation to take a stand.
8. Would I get any certificate for attending the program?
Yes. On completion of all three phases of the program, the participants will get a certificate of Achievement.
9. What are the important dates to remember?
